November-December 2022

The thermal energy wave is about to break, and we are ready to surf.

That is one prediction you can read below where our CEO, Hao Yin, sums up the year here at TEGnology.

You can help us make that prediction come true. All you need to do is follow us on LinkedIn and help us attract more attention among the right partners, customers, and investors.

Web summit and meeting with embassy in Lisbon

It was more than spotlights and exposure when TEGnology/TEGmat was present at the Web Summit 2022 in Lisbon, Portugal. We met industrial leaders and decision makers as well as the officer from the Danish ambassy who likes to listen to entrepreneurs and start-ups as they (the entreprenerus) “represent the future.” He also reminded us that “… technology can be good and bad, depending on how we use it …”

Our aim is to do good, and we will use his words as our ethical guidelines and encouragement for pursuing our ambitious goals in clean energy and energy efficiency.

Our trip to the Web Summit 2022 was funded by the Eureka Network, Investment Readiness Programme, The summit was visited by more than 70,000 participants from more than 160 different countries, including more than 2,000 start-ups and 1,000 investors.

Deep Tech Alliance, Industry 4.0: Finished with a new start

The 8-weeks accelerator program Deep Tech Alliance, Industry 4.0 finished on November 16th in Copenhagen. It has been an intense journey filled with meetings, talks and traveling, but the program was still too short for achieving all the goals we had.

Moving on with four partners
We managed to talk to 12 corporate partners and decided to move on with four of them. Until now, two of them have already planned to test our solution, the other two have provided valuable insights and helped with analyzing new markets. In this sense, DTA is finished but it is also a new start for some very promising partnerships.

We thank the Deep Tech Alliance, industry 4.0 organizers and partners: DTU FutureBox, Hello Tomorrow, Kongsberg Innovasjon, UnternehmerTUM, XPRENEURS Incubator, ETH Entrepreneurship, PoliHub, Technion DRIVE, THINGS AB, and The Collider.

Sustainability award sparks new interest

After Jörg won the Sustainability prize in the Start.up! Germany tour, Hao went on stage and talked about using thermal energy harvesting as an alternative clean energy and energy efficiency enabler. This happened in Essen, also located in the North Rhine-Westphalia area – the central area of Germany in terms of energy, industry and innovation.

We have never received so much interests and attraction from the corporates and investors before. We

thank Tech Tour, Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, Silverpeak, First Imagine! and Procter & Gamble for insightful discussions.

Webinar: Sharing knowledge and inspiring new use cases

We have conducted a successful live webinar with the title “Thermal Energy Harvesting – the key to industrial digitalization?” with the goal of spreading the idea of rethinking power supply for autonomous industrial IoT.

TEGnology introduced several use cases in thermal energy harvesting and the difference it can possibly make, as well as the great potential it brings. Building on the experience, we expect to run a series of future webinars to share further knowledge and expand our base of potential partners and customers.

We would like to thank all the participants for their interaction during the webinar. We are looking forward to next time!

Follow us on LinkedIn for information about the next webinar.

2022 in the words of Hao:

A meaningful year comes to an end

2022 is coming to an end. It has been a meaningful year for TEGnology. We have grown from three people to six full-time and three contracted employees. A subsidiary company, TEGmat, is born, carrying the responsibility for the ground-breaking flexible TEGs.

Our pilot test with a corporation has been accomplished after seven months of continuous operation and will be exploited to their global customer base.

To bring a new technology from research to industry is no easy task and there is no quick fix. It requires patience with active push, resilience on resistance and persistence after drawbacks. And after all, the timing needs to be right. We have strong faith in our technology, and we are happy to see a change in the market. As a decision maker from one of the key players in the district heating market said during the Landsmøde 2022, “it seems that the time for thermal energy harvesting in district heating has come…” We are optimistically looking forward to catching the wave.

Network has also played an essential role in our growth. Through the collaboration with EIT-Manufacturing, we’ve been selected as one of the five finalists in P&G’s global challenge competition. We will present our energy harvesting enabled smart metering solution to P&G’s solution providers and sustainability experts at their sustainability summit on December 13-14. What a way to wrap up the year!

Last but not least, the year will finish, no matter what.
We send our best wishes to all our business partners, networks, and friends.
